Roxanne Makes Public Apology To Ryan Over Punch Claims:
Roxanne Pallett has apologised over the “punch” claims on Celebrity Big Brother, saying that she “got it wrong” in her first TV interview since leaving the house.
Appearing on Jeremy Vine’s show this morning (September 3), looking tired and drained, the former Emmerdale star said that she understands the outrage against her and wants to better herself as a person.
During Thursday’s Celebrity Big Brother episode last week (August 30), Roxanne asked for Ryan to be removed from the Big Brother house saying that he “punched her in the back repeatedly, unprovoked”. Ryan was given a formal warning for the incident.
After Ben Jardine’s eviction on Friday night and hearing the negative chants directed at her by the crowd, Roxanne decided to walk.
Speaking on Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine, Roxanne said: “At the time it hurt, but when I look back on that footage… as soon as I left the house, it was the first thing I did, I got it wrong. I really got it wrong…
“After it happened, I just felt like, I don’t know how to explain it, my mind ran away from me. I am a sensitive person, all I can say, the only thing I can explain it with, is in the moment, it felt worse than it was. I can’t prove a feeling. I can’t show you a feeling.”
Roxanne continued that she also regretted using the word “deliberately” when describing Ryan’s actions, and apologised to him on air.
“I massively apologise to not just Ryan but his family, his friends, his fans, every single person who watched that and completely justifiably saw an overreaction to what wasn’t a malicious act in that moment,” she continued, Because I am sensitive and I was emotional, I mixed up what was playful.”
“He couldn’t disprove his intention, and I couldn’t disprove or prove my feeling. But since I’ve been out of the house, the first thing I did was look at the clip, speak to my family, and reflect in a normal environment. Because it was not a normal environment in there. My judgement was clouded. I wasn’t thinking straight. And that’s what I have to go away and think about, to become a better person.”
“There are people who have detached themselves from me. This is my reality now, and I’m here today to acknowledge a mistake.”
Responding to comments that she was on Vine’s show to ‘protect her career’, Roxanne replied that it was entirely her decision to be there and confirmed that she wasn’t collecting a fee for today’s appearance.
“I chose to be here today,” she said. “In fact, I was advised not to. I’m not getting paid to do this interview. I wasn’t told to do this interview. In fact, it’s the hardest thing I’ve had to do.
Releasing a statement after her exit at the time, Roxanne’s spokesperson said: “Roxanne decided to leave the CBB house late last night after deliberating for two days with some sensitive issues she felt strongly about.
“She has now been reunited with her fiancé and family and thanks everyone for their support during her time in the show.”
