Spandau Ballet Unveil New Lead Singer :
80s group, Spandau Ballet have given their first interview with their new lead singer, Ross William Wild, a year after Tony Hadley left the band for good.
The band appeared on This Morning (August 22) to talk about their new member – and how Tony’s exit could have never meant the end of them.
News of Ross, 28 joining Spandau Ballet as their new frontman was first reported earlier this year.
When asked if he found his new role “intimidating”, Ross said: “Absolutely, they’ve got a legacy and it’s a responsibility of mine to pay homage to that legacy, but also [to] do it my own way.”
The rest of the band also opened up about their chemistry with Ross, revealing they had the power to know he was the one when he made them “feel younger”.
“Not only has he got the chops and he’s got his individual voice, but it’s really important that we found someone that actually fits in with the band… There’s some kind of chemistry there,” Gary Kemp told Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.
So, what about Tony Hadley, was an amicable departure..?
“We just wish him well,” Martin Kemp said. “He wanted to stop and we wanted to carry on… Me carrying on with Spandau was a no-brainer.”
Hmm… We’re not sure Tony will agree with this version of events…
