Celebs Support Amy Watts who Is Battling Colon Cancer :

Showbiz reporter Amy Watts

Celebrity friends have come out to support Bury-born showbiz reporter who is battling colon cancer.

Amy Watts, 37, was diagnosed in August and it had already spread to her liver.

She’s had chemotherapy but doctors in Los Angeles, where she was working as a showbiz reporter, told her they couldn’t operate to remove the cancer.

After a second opinion from a UK doctor, she will undergo two operations at Spire Hospital, Leeds in February.

Amy flew back to the UK last week to prepare for the operation and has been amazed to find friends had started a fund-raising campaign for the £100,000 she needs to pay for the treatment.

£35,000 has already been raised with help from Amy’s celebrity friends.

Pop/Rock band The Rascels have donated and will perform a gig at Springfield Hall, Nottingham on Friday (30th January)

Singer Matt Goss will held a concert at London’s Dorchester Hotel on Monday.

Amy is also being supported by her favourite band, Suede, Simon Cowell, David Beckham, Take That, Patsy Palmer and Michelle Keegan.

Amy is currently staying with her parents in Brandlesholme, north of Bury.

Amy was educated at Elton High School in Bury before going on to study at Sheffield University and then to London where she worked as a showbiz reporter for the Daily Star.

The ‘Hold Amy’s Hand’ campaign has been named in tribute to a quote from one of Amy’s favourite shows Dr Who: “There’s a lot of things you need to get across this universe. Warp drive… wormhole refractors. You know the thing you need most of all? You need a hand to hold.”

Friend and fundraiser Tina Campanella said: “She’s feeling very weak at the moment but she’s totally overwhelmed by all the attention she’s received. It’s a real boost.”

The Voice 2015 Kym Marsh’s daughter fails to make it

Emilie Cunliffe, the 16-year-old daughter of Hear Say singer and Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh, failed in her bid to make it past the revolving chair round on the first episode of The Voice.

In veryemotional scenes Kym looked on in tears as her daughter failed to impress the coaches Sir Tom Jones, Ricky Wilson, Rita Ora and Will.i.Am with her rendition of Clarity by German/Russian electronic dance music producer Zedd (we didn’t know it either)

While her daughter was singing, Kym was seen backstage visually anxious, urging the coaches to turn around on the first show in The Voice’s fourth series.

Coach Ricky Wilson admitted that he nearly pressed the red button to make Emilie his choice however he said that a “seed of doubt” prevented him from going through with it. Fellow coach Rita Ora urged Emilie not to lose heart, she said that she needed to develop her act in order to “stand out among the females in the music industry.”
